Long EZ RC model airplane crashes on maiden flight

This is what happens if you run your receiver antenna too close to the aileron extensions and ignore a marginal range-check before the maiden flight

Why don't RC systems ever glitch *up*?

lol. how much did …
lol. how much did it cost?

It wasn't mine - …
It wasn't mine - but I do have one. I'm building a pulsejet engine for mine and hope to have a video of its first flight up in a couple of weeks or so. Check other vids on my channel to see some of my pulsejet stuff.

Ugly???? *faints*
Ugly???? *faints*

chickafinch @ 3:42 pm

Hahaha that was …
Hahaha that was funny and terribly sad. Hopefully you got another one and it worked better(?)

attackangle @ 3:42 pm

2.4 ghz. You will …
2.4 ghz. You will never have to worry about radio issues again.

floatorsink @ 3:42 pm

A shame about the …
A shame about the crash.Rule Number One on pusher type airplanes.Because you don't have prop wash over the rudder and elevator, you must keep it stuck to the ground until speed is well up.
Rule Number One for maiden flights. If things start to go wrong, they will only get much worst, chop the throttle, have a beer and try again.

too right!
too right!

The servo wires/ …
The servo wires/servos will cause interference if the ariel is routed along side them, to stop this you need to put them in a non conductive tube like a pushrod outer.

KnifeEdgeCrash @ 3:42 pm

not saying that …
not saying that clitch is impossible but most common error on canard is control reversal on elevator. Up elevator means the control surface goes down on the canard. I teach others to fly… very common mistake for first time canard pilots. If experienced pilot get another one. Don't fly if range test is bad. Agree 2.4 = less glitches.

Plane looked better …
Plane looked better after crash. Ugly.

Heyemeyohsts @ 3:42 pm

what did he mean by …
what did he mean by not running receiver antenna alongside the servo extensions?

Touretty @ 3:42 pm

Well that is what …
Well that is what happens if you don't use 2,4 GhZ!

warderseeker @ 3:42 pm

Ya, looks like he …
Ya, looks like he shouldn't have ignored the iffy range check, and a better antenna placement is probably recommended. Your hobbyzone radio is much more likely to get a glitch than his probably. you might have to compensate one day, and 15 feet off the ground dont give you much time. They even simulate "glitches" in realflight, the model flight sim, cuz they happen so often, not with spectrum usually tho

mreae @ 3:42 pm

Well, I didn't read …
Well, I didn't read the description, but now that I have read it, I notice that the pilot disregarded the pre-flight range check. Anyway, I'm definitely no expert. Heck, I've crashed my slow-moving super cub a bunch of times. Admittedly, I suck. And I haven't even had a "glitch."

warderseeker @ 3:42 pm

don't think it's …
don't think it's much to do with the pilot, read the description/captions in the video, called a glitch, in RC stray signals and other issues may "glitch" your radio and cause a problem, kinda technical, specially if you don't know anything about RC

mreae @ 3:42 pm

apparently not
apparently not

warderseeker @ 3:42 pm

hahahaham think …
hahahaham think he's beyond supercubs

JIMBOJON75 @ 3:42 pm

sorry about your …
sorry about your Lost, but i have to say this was the ugliest Plane i`ve ever seen. Sorry !

arado240dd @ 3:42 pm

too much elevator …
too much elevator on the front, very twitchy. Looks like it would fly fast, thst motor screams.

mreae @ 3:42 pm

Wow. That really …
Wow. That really sucks. Buy a Super Cub. They're slow and easy and durable (and much cheaper).

hotpeng @ 3:42 pm

I've bought one of …
I've bought one of these the other day… It seem like a freaking fast ship….This VDO convinced me that I would need to sell it before I start building it…Not my kind of ship… tooo fast

corbystarlet @ 3:42 pm

at least the motor …
at least the motor was on the back, so it didn't get damaged
