How to clean an RC kit, engine, and air filter
This video discusses how to clean an RC air filter, use the air filter oil, and ensure that the entire carb is clean. It als discusses electronics removal and engine removal for hosing the kit down. Discusses the pros and cons of using this method as inspection for loose, cracked, damaged, or broken parts is not apart of it. I also discuss the denatured alcohol and air compressor or aereosol can way or removing dirt by breaking it up. Lastly, I discuss the slow method of removing all the components to use a brush and dust away all associated dirt and the benefits of the slow method. Also use degreaser to remove the oil and nitro gas fuel off of the engine. I also discuss inspection of the engine front bearing for possible air leasks how to seal it and fix that to prevent lean running, and also the back plate leaks.

hi i have a small tip for you when cleaning ang applyin air filter oil to the filter.squirt some oil in a small plastick bag and place ur filetr in the bad and squeez it around this prevents getting messy:D

i no a clean filter lets the engine breath and thats why i am saying it, on that vid there is a patch of dirt on the front but the back seems dirty i was just wondering inbetween races or somthing if u could rotate it for the next race(if u cant clean it there). Then clean wen u got home

There are several …
There are several reasons. First, the visible dirt that you do see on the outside is not all the dirt. Second, you do want to oil the filter and to keep that fresh. Lastly, you want the engine to breathe and a clean filter will do that.

I agree in the sense that you should not do it. Even if the filter looks clean it is still advisable to wash.

no that is actually worse than not cleaning the filter at all for the day.
When you flip it the dirty side will actually become closer to the inside of your engine and dirt will get sucked in a lot easier.
